Selected for Italy-based exhibition "24 Scatti Bike"
đź“… 1 June 2023
One of my photos was selected for the 12th edition of the Italy-based exhibition "24 Scatti Bike", celebrating the relationship between humans and bicycles. On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, my photograph will be on display at the Museo Civico Bari from 1 to 10 June 2023 and at the MAAC in Ceglie Messapica from 24 June to 9 July.
Press release (from Comune di Bari):
"24 Scatti Bike": This afternoon, at the Civic Museum, the preview of the international photographic exhibition dedicated to the relationship between man and bicycle will take place.
To commemorate World Bicycle Day, the twelfth edition of the international photographic exhibition "24 Scatti Bike" will commence this afternoon at 18:00 in the spaces of the Civic Museum. The exhibition explores the profound connection between humans and bicycles.
This free event is sponsored by the Municipality, the City of Bari, and the Metropolitan City in collaboration with Pin Bike, Ciclisti Urbani Bari, Mountainbike Club Bari ASD, Consorzio Puglia Bici e Futuro, Fiab Ruotalibera Bari, and La TorotĂ.
Fulvio Morgese, a PhD student at the Polytechnic of Bari and the organizer of the event, as well as the president of ASD Bari Motivation Bike—an association that promotes the use of bicycles for daily transportation as well as sports—expressed, "The bicycle is like photography; both provide the opportunity to reach any place, capturing unforgettable moments and perfectly embodying the concept of freedom."
The winners of the twelfth edition of the "24 Scatti Bike" international photo contest have been announced following a meticulous evaluation by the jury of 1,359 photographs submitted by 670 photographers from 65 countries. The competition, organized by the Aeneis 2000 Cultural Association and curated by Vincenzo De Leonardis, has received patronage from the Puglia Region.
On display are photographs by Amitava Chandra (India), Ankhi Marik (India), Anna Manoukian (Armenia), Chinmoy Biswas (India), Damiano Pignatti (Italy), Daniel Cilia (Malta), Eduardo Seastres (Philippines), Evgeniya Cherentaeva (Russia), Gabriel Mieles Guzmán (Ecuador), Jahnae' Hatter (USA), Jeffrey De Keyser (Belgium), Juan Obando (Colombia), Jukka Heinovirta (Finland), Katie Ehrlich (USA), Manuel Elias (USA), Marwa Ibrahim Sakr (Egypt), Miguel Zambrano (Venezuela), Natalia Kaliagina (Russia), Nicole Weiss (USA), Nurlan Tahirli (Azerbaijan), Olga Volodina (Bulgaria), Polina Nasedkina (Netherlands), and Tatiana Sanina (Armenia). The cover photo of the exhibition is by Ines Di Biasio (Italy).
Vincenzo De Leonardis, the exhibition curator, explains, "Special mentions were given to the Maltese photographer Daniel Cilia for the photograph 'Pilgrimage to Żabbar' and to the American photographer Katie Ehrlich for the photograph 'Protestant on a Bicycle.' These two visions interpret the use of the bicycle in completely different ways: the first captures a suggestive and intimate religious purpose in the heart of the Mediterranean, while the second depicts a peaceful protest in the name of the climate in New York City. The photo by Ines Di Biasio, an Italian photographer, was chosen as the cover for this twelfth edition of '24 Scatti Bike.'"
